위기가 기회다
이번에 한국에서 법원에 난입한 난동이 있었습니다. 정말로 일어나서는 안되는 일인데, 마음이 무겁습니다. 많은 사람들이 법원난입에 가담한 사람을 엄벌에 처해서 다시는 그런 일을 못하게 해야 한다고 합니다. 그러나 그것이 근본적인 해결책이 되지는 못합니다.
옳고 그름을 떠나서 저도 윤대통령이 수사받는 태도가 법원 난동의 가장 큰 이유라고 생각합니다. 그런데 그것만이 이유는 아닙니다. 법원난동이 일어나기 전에 많은 이유가 축적되었기 때문입니다. 그것을 고쳐야 문제가 해결되지, 엄벌에 처한다고 해결될 것이 아닙니다.
저는 법원난동이 일어난 근본적인 이유가 두가지라고 생각합니다. 먼저 분노입니다. 윤대통령을 지지하는 사람들의 입장에서는 게엄 후에 보인 야당의 행태가 너무 심했습니다. 궁지에 몰린 대통령을 조롱하고 윽박지르는 것을 보고 분노가 가득찬 것 같습니다. 대통령에게 구속영장이 발부되자 분노의 임계점이 넘은 것입니다.
두번째는 불신입니다. 내란죄를 수사할 권한이 없는 공수처가 체포영장을 청구했습니다. 중앙지법에서 체포영장을 받는 것이 원칙인데 서부지법에 체포영장을 청구했습니다. 그후 구속영장을 다시 서부지법에 청구했고 구속영장이 나왔습니다. 과거 이재명 대표의 구속영장과 비교해서 법원을 믿을 수 없게 된 것입니다.
위 두가지 문제가 해결되지 않으면 한국 사회는 더 혼란에 빠질 것입니다. 헌법재판소에서 대통령 탄핵에 대해서 어떤 결과가 나오든지 분노한 진영에서 판결을 받아들이지 않고 난동을 벌일 것입니다. 헌법재판관들도 신변의 위협을 받을 것입니다. 더 큰 문제는, 앞으로 재판에 불복하는 상황이 계속될 것이라는 것입니다.
사회를 지탱하는 세 보루가 있다고 합니다. 교직자와 법관과 성직자입니다. 이미 교직자의 권위는 사라졌습니다. 법관에 대한 신뢰도 사라지려고 합니다. 이제 남은 것은 성직자입니다. 그래서 우리 믿는 사람들의 책임이 큽니다.
우리가 할 수 있는 일은 별로 없습니다. 그러나 분노와 불신의 문제에 주의하면 됩니다. 사람들을 대할 때, 상대방의 입장을 고려하고 그분의 입장에 서서 행동하는 것입니다. 힘들고 억울한 사람에게 친절히 대하고 섬기는 것입니다.
그리고 우리가 믿을만한 사람이 되는 것입니다. 작은 일이라도 법을 지키고, 약속한 것을 지키고, 말과 행동이 일치하고, 차별을 하지 않는 것입니다. 이렇게 하면 위기가 기회가 될 것입니다.
A crisis is an opportunity
Recently, there was a riot in Korea where people stormed the courthouse. This is something that should never have happened, and it weighs heavily on my heart. Many people say that those who participated in the courthouse riot should be severely punished so that such a thing will never happen again. However, this is not a fundamental solution.
Regardless of right or wrong, I also think that President Yoon's attitude toward the investigation is the biggest reason for the court chaos. But that is not the only reason. There were many reasons that had accumulated before the court chaos. The problem will be solved by fixing them, not by punishing severely.
I think there are two fundamental reasons why the court riots occurred. First, anger. From the perspective of those who support President Yoon, the opposition party’s behavior after the martial law was too much. They were filled with anger after seeing them mock and threaten the cornered president. When the arrest warrant was issued for the president, their anger reached a critical point.
The second is distrust. The Corruption Investigation Office, which has no authority to investigate the president requested an arrest warrant. In principle, it is to request a warrant from the Central District Court, but a warrant was requested at the Western District Court. After that, a restraint warrant was requested again at the Western District Court and a warrant was issued. Compared to the restraint warrant for Representative Lee Jae-myung in the past, it became difficult to trust the court.
If these two problems are not resolved, Korean society will fall into more chaos. No matter what the Constitutional Court decides on the impeachment of the president, the angry faction will not accept the ruling and will cause a riot. The Constitutional Court justices will also be threatened. The bigger problem is that not accepting the court ruling will continue in the future.
It is said that there are three bastions that support society: the teachers, the judges, and the clergy. The authority of the teachers has already disappeared. Trust in the judges is also disappearing. Now, the clergy are left. That is why we, the believers, have great responsibility.
There is not much we can do. However, we should be careful about anger and distrust. When dealing with people, we should consider the other person's position and act from his or her perspective. We should be kind to and serve those who are suffering and wronged.
And we should become trustworthy people. We keep the law, even in small matters, keep our promises, are consistent with our words and actions, and do not discriminate. If we do this, a crisis will become an opportunity.
