시간이나 물질등 우리가 가지고 있는 자원은 한정되어 있습니다. 그래서 사람들은 원하는 것을 얻기 위하여 자원을 효율적으로 분배합니다. 경제학에서는 함수를 사용해서 최적해법을 구합니다.

우리는 자신도 모르게 최적화를 하면서 살고 있습니다. 예를 들어, 우리에게 주어진 시간의 양을 최적화 하면서 삽니다. 몇 시간을 자느냐에 따라서 가용한 시간이 결정됩니다. 세면과 옷 입는데 쓰는 시간, 밥 먹는 시간, 교통에 쓰는 시간, 공부나 일하는데 쓰는 시간, 쉬는데 쓰는 시간, 오락등 즐기는 데 쓰는 시간등을 나름대로 계산해서 최적화합니다. 물론 생각없이 사는 사람도 있습니다^^

신앙적으로 생각하면, 우리는 가정과 생업과 교회등 세가지 분야에 헌신합니다. 우리가 가지고 있는 시간과 물질이 한정되어 있기 때문에 모든 분야에서 만족스럽게 헌신할 수는 없습니다. 그렇다고 가장 중요한 것에 올인해서는 안됩니다. 세가지를 같이 할 때 더 많은 효용을 얻기 때문입니다. 예를 들어, 가정이 가장 중요하고 생각한다고 해도, 가정에만 올인하고 생업을 무시해서는 안됩니다. 생업을 무시해서 경제적으로 어려우면 가정에서 얻는 효용이 급격하게 감소하기 때문입니다. 즉, 세가지 분야가 서로 얽혀 있기 때문에 나름 자기 형편에 맞게 최적의 분배를 결정해야 합니다.

학생들도 마찬가지입니다. 학생들은 공부와 아르바이트와 신앙생활에 헌신합니다. 공부에 더 시간을 쓰면 세상적으로 성공할지 모릅니다. 그러나 신앙이 부족한 상태에서 세상에서 성공하는 것은 결코 바람직하지 않습니다. 세상적인 성공이 오히려 불행이 되기 때문입니다. 자신 뿐 아니라 주위 사람들과 사회에 나쁜 영향을 미칩니다. 아르바이트는 돈때문에 하기도 하지만, 세상을 배우고 남을 섬기는 훈련을 하는 기회입니다.

그래서 공부와 아르바이트와 신앙생활을 다 열심히 해야 합니다. 제가 생각하는 최적화 방법은 다음과 같습니다. 먼저 하나님께서 원하시는 신앙생활을 결정합니다. 이것은 사람에 따라 다르고, 때에 따라 다르고 상황에 따라 변할 수 있습니다. 이것이 결정되면 이것을 위한 시간은 내 시간이 아니라고 여기고 신앙생활을 합니다.

그리고 나머지 시간을 공부와 아르바이트를 위해 씁니다. 이것도 개인의 상황과 형편에 따라 다릅니다. 중요한 것은 시간을 낭비하지 않는 것입니다. 휴식과 오락은 필요한 만큼만 합니다. 또 일찍 잠자리에 들고 규칙적으로 생활합니다. 그러면 숙면을 하게 되어 시간의 효율이 높아집니다. 그렇게 되면 하나님께서 여러분의 인생에서 일하실 것입니다.

이렇게 해서, 우리 학생들이 모두 신앙과 세상에서 성공하기 바랍니다.

The resources we have, such as time and material, are limited. So people efficiently distribute their resources to get what they want. In economics, functions are used to find the optimal solution.

We live by optimizing without even realizing it. For example, we live by optimizing the amount of time given to us. The amount of time available is determined by how many hours we sleep. We calculate and optimize the time we spend washing and getting dressed, eating, transportation, studying or working, resting, and enjoying entertainment. Of course, there are people who live without thinking^^

In the Christian life, we devote ourselves to three areas: family, work, and church. Since our time and resources are limited, we cannot devote ourselves satisfactorily to all areas. However, we should not go all-in on the most importtant. We get more utility when we do all three together. For example, even if we think that family is the most important, we should not go all-in on family and ignore work. If we neglect work and have financial difficulties, the utility we get from family will decrease drastically. In other words, since the three areas are intertwined, we should decide the optimal distribution according to our own circumstances.

The same goes for students. Students devote themselves to their studies, part-time jobs, and religious life. If they spend more time on study, they may succeed in the world. However, it is never desirable to succeed in the world when there is a lack of faith. This is because worldly success is rather unfortunate. It has a bad influence not only on oneself but also on people around oneself and society. Part-time jobs are done for money, but they are also opportunities to learn about the world and train to serve others.

So, you have to work hard on all of your studies, part-time job, and religious life. Here is the optimal method that I think of. First, decide on the religious life that God wants. This can vary from person to person, time to time, and situation to situation. Once this is decided, consider the time on this as not your time and live your religious life.

And the rest of the time is spent on studying and part-time work. This also depends on the individual's situation and circumstances. The important thing is not to waste time. Limit time for rest and entertainment to the amount necessary. Also, go to bed early and live a regular life. Then, you will sleep well and your time will be more efficient. Then God will work in your life.
