아시다시피 저희 가정은 지지난 주 월요일 (5/26)에 오타와로 이사를 갔습니다. 개인적인 이유와 경제적 사정 때문입니다. 내년 6월까지 금요일에 몬트리올에 와서 주일까지 교회를 섬깁니다. 그후에 어떻게 할지는 교회의 형편에 따라서 결정하려고 합니다.
지난 두 번은 수요일에 몬트리올에 왔습니다. 5/28(수)에는 이사와 관련해서 처리할 것이 있었고, 6/4(수)에는 아내의 건강검진 때문입니다. 오타와에서 한 주에 2 일을 지냈고, 몬트리올에서 5 일을 지낸 셈입니다.
몬트리올에서는 별관에서 묵습니다. 생각보다 지내는 것이 불편하지 않습니다. 교회를 가는 것도 가까와서 편한 점도 있습니다(^^). 오타와에서 몬트리올을 운전하는 것도 (아직) 그리 힘들지 않습니다. 다만, 주말에 별관을 사용하는 분들은 제게 말씀해 주시기 바랍니다.
교회적으로는 7월부터 9월 중순까지 장흥신 목사님이 전적으로 담임목사의 역할을 담당할 기회를 갖습니다. 제가 옆에서 코칭하면서 돕습니다. 그후 9월 중순에서 11월 중순까지 2 달간 저희는 안식월을 갖습니다. 장목사님은 저희가 없는 동안 담임목사 역할을 해 볼 수 있는 기회가 될 것입니다.
돌아와서 장목사님이 담임목사 역할을 할 준비가 되었다고 판단되면 저는 12월에 담임 목사직을 사임하고 장흥신 목사님이 담임목사로 취임하게 됩니다. 그렇지 않다면 제가 담임목사직을 더 할 수도 있습니다.
어떤 상횡이 되든, 제가 교회에서 어떤 역할을 할지 기도하고 있습니다. 기본적으로는 영어권 사역을 맡으려고 힙니다. 그래서 금요일에 오면 청소년모임이나 청년부 모임을 신경쓰려고 합니다. 제가 꼭 참석할 필요가 없으면 장년 목장 모임을 방문할 수도 있습니다.
토요일에는 삶공부를 하려고 합니다. 영어권 삶공부가 필요하면 하고, 학생부나 주일학교 삶공부도 필요하면 하려고 합니다. 장년 삶공부도 장흥신 목사님이 하기 어려운 것이 있으면 하려고 합니다. 이번 가을에는 우리가 안식월을 가기 때문에 삶공부는 내년 봄학기부터 시작합니다.
이렇게 두집 살림을 하면서 사역을 하는 경우가 별로 없을 것입니다. 그래도 교회 리더십의 이양 과정에서 필요한 좋은 기회라고 생각합니다. 리더십 이양과 저희의 사역을 위해서 기도해 주시기를 부탁드립니다.
As you know, my family moved to Ottawa last Monday (5/26). It is for personal and financial reasons. I will come to Montreal on Fridays and serve the church until Sundays until June next year. After that, I will decide what to do depending on the church's circumstances.
The last two times I came to Montreal on Wednesdays. On Wed 5/28, I had some moving-related matters to take care of, and on Wed 6/4, my wife had a medical checkup. I spent two days in Ottawa and five days in Montreal in a week.
In Montreal, I stay in the annex. It is not as inconvenient as I thought. It is rather convenient because it is close to church (^^). Driving from Ottawa to Montreal is not (yet) too difficult. If you are using the annex on weekends, please let me know.
For the church, from July to mid-September, Pastor Jang Heung-shin will have the opportunity to take full responsibility for the role of senior pastor. I will coach and assist him from the side. After that, we will have a two-month sabbatical from mid-September to mid-November. This will be an opportunity for Pastor Jang to take on the role of senior pastor while we are away.
When I return, if Pastor Jang is evaluated ready to assume the role of senior pastor, I will resign from the position of senior pastor in December and Pastor Jang Heung-shin will take over as senior pastor. If not, I may continue to serve as senior pastor.
Whatever happens, I'm praying about what role I'll play in the church. Basically, I'm going to take on the English ministry. So when I come on Friday, I'm going to focus on the youth group or the young adult group. If I don't have to attend, I can visit the adult MokJang meetings.
On Saturdays, I plan to lead life studies. If English-speaking life studies are needed, I will do them, and if students or Sunday school life studies are needed, I will do them. I will also do adult life studies if Pastor Jang Heung-shin finds it difficult to do them. Since we are going on sabbatical this fall, life studies will start in the spring semester next year.
There are not many cases where we do ministry while living in two houses like this. However, I think this is a good opportunity needed in the process of transferring church leadership. Please pray for the leadership transfer and our ministry.
