벌써 올해의 반이 거의 지났습니다. 저희 가정은 5월 말에 오타와로 이사하고 난 뒤, 매주말마다 몬트리올에 와서 교회를 섬기고 있습니다. 어떤 주는 몬트리올에 있는 시간이 많아서 우리가 이사를 갔다는 것이 실감이 나지 않습니다.^^
7월부터는 장흥신 목사님이 담임목사 역할을 하고, 저는 장목사님이 잘 적응하도록 뒤에서 돕습니다. 9월 중순부터 두 달동안 저희 가정은 한국에서 안식월을 갖습니다. 저희가 없는 동안에 장목사님이 담임목사 역할을 알아서(?) 감당합니다.
저희가 11월 중순에 돌아와서 교회가 장목사님의 사역을 평가한 후, 제 거취를 결정합니다. 장목사님이 담임목사 사역을 잘 감당할 것으로 생각되면 저는 담임목사직을 그만두고 장목사님이 담임목사로 취임하게 됩니다. 저는 동사목사나 영어권목사가 될 것 같습니다.
두 목회자의 출타 일정을 올립니다.
1. 장목사 휴가: 6/24(화)-7/8(화).
2. 최목사 NewGen 참석: 7/21(월)-25(금)
3. 최목사 휴가: 8/6(수)-20(수)
4. 장목사 가정 휴스턴 서울교회 연수: 8/25(월)-9/8(월)
5. 최목사 가정 안식월: 9/15(월)-11/14(금)
장목사님이 출타하는 동안 제가 모든 사역을 합니다 (최목사 주일 예배 설교: 6.29, 7/6, 8/31, 9/7). 새벽예배도 평소대로 평일에는 쥼으로 드리고, 토요일에는 교회에서 모여서 드립니다. 수요예배도 마찬가지입니다. 수요예배 찬양등 순서에 대해서는 조금 더 생각해 보려고 합니다.
장목사님의 사역 부담을 줄여주기 위해서 장목사님이 담임목회 사역을 하는 중에 제가 한 달에 한 번 정도 주일예배 설교를 하려고 합니다. 마침 장목사님이 출타하는 동안 제가 매달 한 번 설교를 합니다^^.
앞으로 영어권 사역이 더 많아질 것입니다. 한국말을 전혀 못하는 사람들이 주일학교와 학생부와 청년부와 장년 차드목장에 참석하고 있습니다. 또 한어 청년 목장이 생길 수도 있습니다.
앞으로 하나님께서 우리 교회에서 무슨 일을 하실지 모릅니다. 하나님께서 일하실 때 잘 감당하는 우리 교회가 되었으면 좋겠습니다.
It's already almost halfway through the year. Since our family moved to Ottawa at the end of May, we've been coming to Montreal every weekend to serve the church. Some weeks, we spend more time in Montreal, so it doesn't feel real that we've moved. ^^
From July, Pastor Jang Heung-shin will take on the role of senior pastor, and I will help Pastor Jang adjust well. Starting in mid-September, our family will take a two-month sabbatical in Korea. While we are away, Pastor Jang will take on the role of senior pastor by himself(?).
When we come back in mid-November the church will evaluate Pastor Jang’s ministry, and then decide on my future. If we decide Pastor Jang can handle the ministry well, I will step down from my position as senior pastor and Pastor Jang will take over as senior pastor. I think I will become a co-pastor or an English-speaking pastor.
Here are the travel schedules of the two pastors.
1. Pastor Jang’s vacation: 6/24 (Tue) - 7/8 (Tue).
2. Pastor Choi NewGen attendance: 7/21 (Mon) - 25 (Fri)
3. Pastor Choi’s vacation: 8/6 (Wed) - 20 (Wed)
4. Pastor Jang's Family Houston Seoul Church Training: 8/25 (Mon) - 9/8 (Mon)
5. Pastor Choi's Family Sabbath: 9/15 (Mon) - 11/14 (Fri)
While Pastor Jang is away, I do all the ministry (Pastor Choi's Sunday service sermons: 6.29, 7/6, 8/31, 9/7). As for the dawn service, we will hold it on weekdays on zoom as usual, and gather at the church on Saturdays to hold it. The same goes for the Wednesday service. I will think a little more about the order of the Wednesday service praise, etc.
In order to reduce Pastor Jang's ministry burden, I plan to preach the Sunday service sermon once a month while Pastor Jang is performing his pastoral duties. I will be preaching once a month anyway while Pastor Jang is away^^.
There will be more English-speaking ministries in the future. People who don't speak Korean at all are attending Sunday school, student ministry, youth ministry, and Adult Chad Mokjang. There may also be a Korean-speaking young adult Mokjang.
We don’t know what God will do in our church in the future. I hope that our church will be able to handle God’s work well.
