장목사님이 7월 8일 까지 2주간 정기 휴가차 한국을 방문중입니다. 건강검진을 받았는데, 추가 검사등 일정이 늦어져서 7월 18일(금) 저녁 6시쯤 몬트리올로 돌아온다고 합니다. 7월 19일(토)까지 제가 모든 예배를 인도하고 7월 20일(주)부터 장목사님이 다시 예배 인도를 합니다. 아래는 장목사님이 교회 리더에게 보낸 글입니다.

다들 평안하시지요? 저희가 한국에 온 지도 벌써 일주일이 지났습니다. 시간이 어떻게 이렇게 빨리 흘렀는지 모르겠습니다. 하루하루 정신없이 지냈지만, 모든 순간을 감사한 마음으로 보내고 있습니다. 특히 4년 만에 부모님과 가족들을 직접 만나 따뜻한 시간을 보낼 수 있었던 것이 큰 감사였습니다. 또한 모든 분들을 다 찾아 뵙지는 못했지만, 시간과 장소가 맞아 잠시나마 몇몇 지인들을 직접 만나 인사드릴 수 있었던 것도 큰 기쁨이었습니다.

어제는 저와 아내가 함께 건강검진을 받았습니다. 위·대장 내시경을 포함한 전체 검사가 3시간 이상 걸렸고, 아내는 대장에서 발견된 1.3cm 크기의 선종을 제거하느라 저보다 더 오랜 시간을 검사실에서 보내야 했습니다. 담당 의사 선생님께서는 이 선종이 암의 전단계라고 하시며, 조기에 발견된 것이 정말 다행이고 시의적절했다고 말씀하셨습니다. 이번에 한국방문해서 건강검진을 받을 수 있는 것이 하나님의 은혜임을 고백하게 됩니다. 선종의 크기가 비교적 커서 조직검사를 진행했으며, 결과는 다음 주 중에 나올 예정입니다. 이후 추가 상담과 검사가 필요하다고 하셨습니다.

저도 대장에서 작은 용종 두 개가 발견되어 제거했고, 혹시 모를 상황에 대비해 저 역시 조직검사를 진행하였습니다. 결과를 기다리고 있는 중이며, 전반적인 건강 상태는 4년 전보다 좋지 않다는 진단을 받았습니다. 특히 골다공증 전단계라는 결과도 함께 나와 건강 관리를 더욱 신중히 해야 할 것 같습니다.

한편, 유민이는 지난주 병원에서 실밥을 제거했고, 수술 당시 내시경 영상으로 연골 손상이 상당히 컸음을 확인할 수 있었습니다. 오늘은 병무청에 서류를 제출하며 신체검사도 함께 받게 됩니다. 7월 16일경부터는 발을 디딜 수 있지만, 초반에는 체중의 20% 정도만 실으며 재활을 시작하고, 점차 하중을 늘려가는 과정이 필요하다고 합니다.

이러한 여러 사정을 담임목사님께 말씀드렸고, 당초보다 9-10일 정도 일정을 연장해서 7월 17~18일경 귀국하려고 합니다.

Pastor Jang is visiting Korea for a two-week vacation until July 8th. He received a health checkup, but his schedule was delayed due to additional tests, so he will return to Montreal on Friday, July 18th at 6 PM. I will lead all worship services until Saturday, July 19th, and then Pastor Jang will resume leading worship services starting Sunday, July 20th. Below is a letter that Pastor Jang sent to church leaders.

How are you all? It’s already been a week since we arrived in Korea. I don’t know how time has passed so quickly. Every day has been hectic, but I’m spending every moment with gratitude. I was especially thankful that I was able to meet my parents and family in person for the first time in four years and spend a warm time with them. Also, although I couldn’t meet everyone, I was able to meet and greet a few acquaintances in person for a short while when the time and place were right.

Yesterday, my wife and I had a health checkup together. The entire examination, including the upper and lower gastrointestinal endoscopy, took more than 3 hours, and my wife had to spend even longer in the examination room than I did to remove a 1.3cm polyp found in her colon. The doctor in charge said that the polyp was precancerous, and that it was fortunate and timely that it was found early. I confess that it was God’s grace that I was able to visit Korea this time and get a health checkup. Since the polyp was relatively large, a biopsy was performed, and the results will be out next week. He said that additional consultation and examination are necessary after that.

I also had two small polyps removed from my colon, and I also had a biopsy done just in case. I am waiting for the results, and I was diagnosed that my overall health is not as good as it was four years ago. In particular, I need to be more careful about my health because I also got the result that I have pre-osteoporosis.

Meanwhile, Yumin had his stitches removed at the hospital last week, and the endoscopic images from the surgery confirmed that her cartilage damage was significant. Today, he will submit his documents to the Military Manpower Administration and undergo a physical examination. He will be able to walk starting around July 16, but he will begin rehabilitation by only carrying about 20% of his body weight, and he will need to gradually increase the load.

I have explained these circumstances to pastor Choi, and I plan to extend my stay by 9-10 days from the original date and return home around July 17-18.

I sincerely thank the shepherds who always pray with us and accompany us in their hearts even from afar. I pray that you will always be at peace in the Lord and that God’s grace and guidance will be abundant.
