These days, many of the youth and young adults in our church are showing great passion and interest in worship. It brings me joy to see them standing in the front rows during worship, lifting their hands, learning instruments on their own, and following along with worship videos on YouTube. Their love for worship and their desire to draw near to God through it is clear evidence that the fire of God still burns in this generation. I wholeheartedly celebrate and support this beautiful movement.

Looking back, I also met God through worship during my teenage years. In the late 1980s, I used to attend the "Duranno Worship and Praise" gatherings every Thursday evening. Those times of worship filled with tears of awe and joy became a turning point in my life. I began leading worship in high school, and after graduating from university, I served with Cross-Life, one of the CCC music mission teams, leading worship and evangelistic gatherings. Worship was never just music to me—it was a means of encountering God and a powerful channel for sharing the gospel.

That's why seeing our youth and young adults encountering God through worship and pouring out their hearts in our services deeply moves me. It reassures me that this generation still carries a burning passion for God and that He is raising them up through worship.

At the same time, I do have some concerns. Worship can sometimes become merely a means of emotional release or an expression of personal preference. I've noticed that some of the worship songs popular among younger generations are too focused on emotional experience, and in some cases, worship team members haven't lived out their faith consistently. Worship is meant to be an offering to God and a channel of the gospel's power. The emotions we experience in worship must lead to lives of obedience, daily worship, and gospel-centered living.

I earnestly pray that the wave of worship rising in our church would not simply be a trend or emotional experience but would become a holy fire that reflects God's heart for the lost. I hope and pray that those who are comforted and renewed through worship will grow into authentic worshipers and evangelists, carrying the gospel into their daily lives.

I also hope that our adult members will encounter the presence of God through worship and experience deep healing and grace. I am truly grateful that more and more of our members are attending our Wednesday services. These services have become a space where people meet God through worship and prayer, and I encourage all of you to come and join us in this place of grace

요즘 우리 교회 청소년들과 청년들 가운데 찬양에 대한 관심과 열정이 뜨겁습니다. 예배 가운데 앞자리에 서서 손을 들고 찬양하며, 스스로 악기를 배우고, 유튜브를 보며 워십 영상을 따라하는 모습을 보면 마음이 참 기쁩니다. 찬양을 좋아하고, 찬양을 통해 하나님께 가까이나아가려는 갈망은 이 세대 안에 여전히 하나님의 불이 타오르고 있다는 증거이기에, 저는 그 모습을 기꺼이 축복하고 응원하고 싶습니다.

돌이켜보면, 저 역시 청소년 시절에 찬양으로 하나님을 만났던 한 사람입니다. 1980년대 후반, 매주 목요일 저녁이면 두란노 ‘경배와 찬양’ 집회를 찾아가곤 했습니다. 감격과 기쁨으로 눈물로 찬양했던 그 시간은 제 인생의 전환점이었습니다. 고등학교 때부터 찬양인도를 시작했고, 대학교를 졸업하면서 CCC 음악선교부 중 하나인 Cross-Life 찬양팀에서 사역하며 예배와 전도집회를 인도하며 섬겼던 기억이 아직도 생생합니다. 그렇게 찬양은 제게 단순한 음악이 아니라, 하나님을 만나는 도구요, 복음을 전하는 통로였습니다.

그래서 요즘 우리 청소년들과 청년들이 찬양 안에서 하나님을 만나고, 예배 가운데 온 마음을 쏟는 모습을 볼 때 남다른 감동이 있습니다.

하지만 동시에 염려도 있습니다. 찬양이 자칫 감정의 해소나 문화적 취향의 표현에 그치게 되지 않을까 하는 우려입니다. 젊은이들이 좋아하는 찬양팀의 곡들이 너무 개인적인 감정의 표현에 치우치거, 유명한 찬양팀의 멤버의 삶이 신앙적 모임이 되지 못하는 경우도 있습니다. 찬양은 하나님께 드리는 헌신이며 복음의 능력을 담은 통로입니다. 감동이 삶의 예배로, 순종으로, 복음 전도로 이어져야 합니다.

저는 간절히 기도합니다. 지금 우리 교회에 일어나고 있는 찬양의 물결이 단순한 유행이나 감정의 고양이 아니라, 잃어버린 영혼을 향한 하나님의 마음에 참여하는 전도의 불씨가 되기를 말입니다. 찬양을 통해 위로 받고 회복된 청소년과 청년들이, 이제는 삶의 현장에서 복음을 들고 나아가는 예배자이자 전도자로 세워지기를 소망합니다.

그리고 저는 같은 마음으로, 우리 장년 성도님들 또한 찬양을 통해 하나님의 임재를 깊이 경험하고, 그 속에서회복과 은혜를 누리시기를 기대합니다. 감사한 것은, 최근 수요예배에 예전보다 훨씬 많은 분들이 참석하고 있다는 점입니다. 찬양과 기도를 통해 하나님을 만나는 은혜의 자리가 되고 있음이 참 감사합니다.
