가정교회 사역원 홈페이지의 나눔터에는 가정교회를 섬기는 목회자들의 글이 올라옵니다. 그 가운데 광주 사랑과 사랑교회 담임목사인 김규림 목사님께서 나누신 VIP 말씀 잔치 준비 과정에 대한 글이 있다고 최병희 목사님께서 참고해서 VIP를 위한 릴레이 기도를 하면 좋겠다고 하셔서 찾아 봤는데 많은 도전을 받았습니다.
김 목사님은 교회 전체가 VIP를 품고 릴레이 기도를 드리며 말씀 잔치를 준비한 그 여정이, 단순한 초청 행사를 위한 준비를 넘어 놀라운 구원의 열매를 맺고, 성도들의 신앙을 깊게 성장시키는 기회가 되었다고 고백하셨습니다.
저희 교회도 매년 성탄절 예배와 특별 행사 가운데 VIP를 초청하여 함께 예배드리고, 식사를 나누며 교제해 왔습니다. 올해 성탄절도 VIP 초청 특별예배와 만찬을 준비하며,
우리 교회도 김 목사님의 교회처럼 VIP를 위한 릴레이 기도운동을 함께 시작하려 합니다. 이 기도를 통해 우리 공동체가 복음의 열매를 맺고, 영혼을 구원하여제자 삼는 사명에 더욱 헌신하게 되기를 소망합니다.
먼저, 9월 9일(화) 부터 세겹줄 기도회로 첫 걸음을 시작합니다. 이번 세겹줄 기도회는 VIP를 품고 기도하고 교회를 세우기 위한 전교인 새벽 기도회가 되기를 소망합니다. 저는 오명교 목사님의 『하나님 나라 복음의 삶』 책을 가지고 말씀을 나눌 것인데, 복음의 삶을 살아내기 위한 회복과 헌신의 시간이 될 것입니다.
그리고 이어서 9월 15일부터 12월 20일까지 3개월 동안, “VIP를 품는 기도, 교회를 세우는 기도”라는 주제로 릴레이 기도운동이 시작됩니다. 이 기도는 단순한 행사 준비가 아니라, 하나님께서 우리 공동체를 통해 잃어버린 자를 찾아 구원하시려는 사역에 동참하는 시간입니다.
이를 위해 VIP 명단을 작성합니다. 작정 카드는 8월 24일에 나눠드릴 예정입니다. 예루살렘(가정,가족) → 유대 (가까운 친척, 친구) → 사마리아 (친구의 친구, 회사동료, 이웃) - 땅끝(잘 모르는 분들, 지나치는 분들) 순으로, 9월 7일까지 작정하여 제출합니다. 작정된 명단은 기도카드로 제작되어 별관 기도처에 비치되며, 모든 예배와 기도회, 개인기도 시간에 함께 중보하게 됩니다.
올해 성탄절을 준비하며 릴레이 기도를 통해 VIP를 향한 하나님의 마음을 품고 기도하는 시간이 되었으면 합니다. 우리 모두가 이 거룩한 기도의 자리에 함께 동참합시다.
Praying for VIPs, Building Up the Church
On the “Sharing” section of the House Church Ministries International website, there are posts written by pastors serving in house churches. Among them, Pastor Byeonghee Choi mentioned that Pastor Kyulim Kim of Sarang and Sarang Church in Gwangju had shared about the preparation process for their VIP Evangelistic Banquet and suggested that it would be good for us to hold a relay prayer for VIPs. So, I looked it up, and I was greatly challenged by it.
Pastor Kim testified that the journey of the entire church embracing VIPs in prayer through a relay prayer movement and preparing for the banquet was more than just getting ready for an invitation event — it became an opportunity to bear amazing fruit of salvation and for the congregation to grow deeply in their faith.
Our church has also, every Christmas, invited VIPs to join our worship service and special events, sharing a meal and having fellowship together. This Christmas, as we prepare a special worship service and banquet for VIPs, we too will begin a relay prayer movement for VIPs, just as Pastor Kim’s church did. Through this prayer, we hope our community will bear the fruit of the gospel and become more devoted to the mission of saving souls and making disciples.
We will begin on Tuesday, September 9, with a “Threefold Cord Prayer Meeting.” This will be an early morning prayer meeting for the whole church, with the goal of praying for VIPs and building up the church. I will be sharing from Pastor Myung-Kyo Oh’s book The Kingdom of God, The Life of the Gospel making it a time for restoration and dedication to living out the gospel life.
Following that, from September 15 to December 20 — for three months — we will launch the relay prayer movement under the theme, “Praying for VIPs, Praying to Build the Church.” This prayer is not simply preparation for an event; it is a time to participate in God’s work of seeking and saving the lost through our community.
For this purpose, we will prepare a VIP list. The commitment cards will be distributed on August 24. Following the pattern of Jerusalem (home, family) → Judea (close relatives, friends) → Samaria (friends of friends, co-workers, neighbors) → the ends of the earth (people we don’t know well or pass by), please complete and submit your list by September 7. The committed names will be made into prayer cards, placed in the prayer room of the annex, and will be prayed for together during all worship services, prayer meetings, and personal prayer times.
As we prepare for this year’s Christmas, may the relay prayer become a time for us to embrace God’s heart for VIPs and intercede for them. Let us all join in this holy place of prayer.
